News from the project #4

On August 31st we officially concluded our work in Escape4Health! We’d like to thank all the project partners, in addition to everyone who has participated in our activities, from co-design to evaluation to dissemination events.

THE PROJECT

ESCAPE4HEALTH is an Erasmus+ project that has created a set of escape rooms to complement the education of healthcare students and professionals. If this is the first time you are hearing about the project, we encourage you to check out our official website escape4health.eu to find out more.

THE WORK IS DONE!

On August 31st we officially concluded our work in Escape4Health! We’d like to thank all the project partners, in addition to everyone who has participated in our activities, from co-design to evaluation to dissemination events. Thank you all for your cooperation!

PROJECT RESULTS

You can now deploy the escape rooms we designed! You will find all the necessary documentation in our new Downloads section. Go ahead, take a look, and maybe give them a try if you think you can incorporate them into your classes.

You can also expect some scientific publications from us in the coming weeks…

MULTIPLIER EVENTS

As part of the final dissemination activities of the project, we held some Multiplier Events. Some of the project partners organised these dissemination events inviting local (and sometimes international) stakeholders.

THESSALONIKI, GREECE

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki hosted an event at the co-working space Ypsilon in July, where they presented many of the results of the project, our escape rooms, how they were created and how to use them – including a live demo of the AR escape room and a workshop to create new scenarios. Participants included many higher education representatives as well as students and local authorities.

HELSINKI, FINLAND

Laurea University presented their finished escape game for health care education on an event in their Tikkurila Campus in August. They presented how co-designing was used and showcased the feedback gathered throughout the project on technically evaluating the game from different perspectives and including short- and long-term evaluation. Finally, our recommendations for the use of the escape game and on the pedagogical aspects of Escape rooms in healthcare Curricula were introduced.

VALENCIA, SPAIN

At the end of July, Universitat Politècnica de València hosted a half-day meeting at the Ciutat Politècnica de la Innovació to showcase the escape rooms we created and give some recommendations on how to design, create and run escape rooms to a select audience including students, nurses, teachers and technology professionals.

AMEE 2023

The Multiplier Event by AMEE was a bit special since it coincided with the AMEE Conference 2023 in August, which took place in Glasgow, UK. This huge event attracted thousands of medical education professionals from all over the world, and our partners at AMEE granted us two spaces to disseminate and discuss Escape4Health. We hosted a pre-conference workshop where we taught participants how to create their own escape room for medical education, and then we led a Symposium discussing how useful escape rooms in this context can really become.

If that wasn’t enough, we also took the chance to have our final Transnational Project Meeting there during the Conference, our last chance to see each other in person… until future opportunities come up to keep expanding the use of escape rooms for medical education!
